ELEGANCE OF KANCHI SILK
Silk actually originated in China. But in India silk is synonymous with Kancheevaram. The most popular silk of all is the Kancheevaram silk or Kanchi silk. The place Kancheevaram is known for its weavers of silk material, pavadis and sarees. It takes more than a month to weave one single saree. Silk yarn is taken out of the silk-worms and then 2 or more colours are used to weave one saree with silver thread coated with gold. These are all reasons why a Kanchi saree is sold at high price. But silk is supposed to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. Also, it lasts for decades if maintained carefully. It is quite low maintenance also.
Such a great outfit comes these days in beautiful combinations and with pretty blouses attached. They all have borders on both sides of the saree with small motifs on the body threaded with gold and has a grand pallu that flows down from a lady's shoulder with grand gold embossed designs.
Pictures of some pretty colors in kanchi silk sarees are posted here.
Don't forget to accessorize it with a beautiful 1gm gold jewelry.

Jewelry Matching the Zardosi Outfit
The Zardosi work saree which is one of the latest trends at this moment, from down South of India up to the north, is available in all types of fabrics, based on the part of the country that demands it.
The designs and work on it has an almost-Persian aura to it, giving it both a traditional and modern twist.
Of course, when a lady wears such a beautiful saree, it MUST be accessorized with similar and equally stunning jewelry. Without breaking the bank, these days, beautiful Kundhan Meena Kari work with lots of beads, pearls and colored stones are available in one gram. If the lady decides to match the extravagance of the Zardosi work saree, these designs are available with the real gems as well- bringing the price upwards of thousands of dollars/rupees. But the great thing about one gram jewelry is that you can deck yourself up in one tenth of the price.

Half-Saree Saree
Half saree, or pavadai davani, is an outfit that was very popular in the south before the salwar kameez took over among young girls. It was actually a stage in between skirt and saree. A teenager who is at a stage where she is not ready for a saree but does not care to wear pavadai and choli usually dons a half saree. As the name says, it is litereally 3 yards, exactly half of the 6 yards, which is length of the usual saree. Of course it has to be combined with a pavadai and a blouse, or a choli.
If a lady has not worn this in her teen years or if she wants to live her young years by imitating similar outfit, there is something that is very trendy now. It is called the half saree sari It comes in 6 yards with 2 contrast colors or 2 contrast designs. So when you wrap it like a saree, it gives a look of a pavadi davani. Except for the pleats, the other parts have the same design. The pallu and the part we wrap around is of same design. This pattern has been implemented in every type of saree- and sarees ranging in various prices.
As even better news, this saree has arrived at RU Creations!

Kalamkari work is an ancient art from Andra Pradesh. Kalamkari which literally translates into work with pen, is an art work on fabric using vegetable dyes. Pen meaning a pierced bamboo is used to draw this art on the cotton fabric. It usually depicts Hindu mythology and temple architecture.
This type of work looks very grand on the saree.

Printed Raw Silk sarees
Raw silk is a fabric made of silk fibers that have not undergone the removal of the sericin coating. Sericin also called silk-gelatin is boiled out of silk thread prior to be woven in to fine silk. This is the basic difference between the raw silk and fine silk.
Such raw silk is used to make all kinds of outfits. Material as such is sold to make salwars and chudithars and other dresses. They are also used in making draperies and sheets.
Raw silk sarees are available. They come as plain 6yds material in which case you may buy the 6yds and get any kind of work done on it. It also comes in with borders and prints.
Couple of such sarees have just been shipped to RU Creations. Raw silk with print on them and beautiful pallu. Of course matching blouse like any other saree is attached to the saree.

A Saree from the old times
As everyone knows, when history repeats itself, it can go either way. The same applies for fashion. The way we stitch our blouses when it comes to the the neck, the sleeve, and the puff in the sleeves, every style and fashion comes in and out throughout time.
After speaking to a dear older friend, it has come to my attention that one such style , popular over 60 years ago, has reincarnated itself into the form of a saree at RU creations. This particular saree is called the muppagakkarai saree. As the name implies it has 2 colors repeated in 3 pagams or sections, and contrast borders on both sides. Basically, it is a double sided saree with 3 parts of color change.
This saree would definitely be considered a grand one, and can be worn to wedding, so do accessorize it with a grand set of 1gm jewlery.

Ahimsa Silk continued

Basically, unlike traditional silk, Ahimsa silk's threads are taken our after the cocoon leaves the nest. Therefore, there is absolutely no harm done to the silk worm. Regardless, beautiful colors and prints are available in this type of silk, and evidence is shown in the photos above. The material has a very silkish feel, yet is completely weightless on the body once worn.
Both of these sarees are available at RU Creations.

The Exquisite silk of All!!
The Kanjeevaram, or the Kanchi silk, could easily be considered as the most exotic silk. Such a fabulous material comes out of South India, or more specifically, Kancheepuram, near Chennai, TamilNadu. Every South Indian woman, or almost every Indian woman's wardrobe will have at least a couple of this great silk. Every South Indian bride's wedding trousseu will definitely comprise of more than one Kanjeevaram silk saree.
We at RU Creations are proud to bring that kind of rich tradition, from the fareast deep south Kanjeevaram to the deep south Houston, Texas.
Kanchi pattu or silk sarees usually come in bold colors with real gold or silver border on one side of the saree or on either sides with a flashy pallu. These days trendyness has caught up with this most traditional attire also. Boutiques now come up with very off-beat patterns. They are either half and half or sarees with no borders or sarees with very contemporary pallu. The 6yds in a saree has many designs many patterns on it.
One such saree available at RU Creations is displayed here in the picture, a very non traditional saree in a very traditional combination of colors , A pretty majenta with a bottle green combination.
P.S Always don't forget to accessorize the lovely saree with a beautiful 1gm gold jewlery.

Threadwork on Cotton silk
'Work' sarees have been in fashion for the past few years. In particular, thread-work sarees have been especially trendy lately.
This concept has caught up with cotton silk sarees also: One may buy a relatively plain silk- cotton saree and either do the thread work yourself, if you have the right sewing skills, or give it to a place where they do the work for you. These days, any tailor who makes the blouses has a person appointed just for this.
So if you are a person who does not wear chiffon, georgette , crepe or any of the more transparent material but still want to wear a saree with some 'work', you may very well do so with a silk cotton one. Pick the color combination u like and pick the motifs you want them to be embroidered with, and you will not be disappointed. Afterwards, the saree can be used for evening wear and can pass for a traditional wear also.
P.S. Do not forget to accessorize it with the right 1gram gold jewelry. A simple pair of earrings and a necklace will look good for these sarees, because the focus has to be on the saree and the work.

Evening wear in Cotton silk
The most common look in cotton silk sarees for the past decade has been the more traditional looking sarees, with a solid body and contrast borders on both sides, and gold jari on it. These could be worn to temples, pujas, engagements ceremonies, 1st birthday pujas, upanayanams and even weddings. Then slowly- lines, plaid, and buttas (dots) came in style. The silk cotton has truly evolved over the years. These days it comes in designs where the top-half of the saree is of a different color with different designs and the lower half is of a different design and color.
Lately, they are making sarees that can be worn for parties and for evening events. The color choices and the designs used on them make them very conducive to evening time and very appropriate for non traditional events.
P S. Accessorize it with matching one gram gold sets with long drops!
